This extensive remodel, in an area of Medina with a 20’ height restriction, presented many challenges: a limited building envelope and a bold program for added spaces and uses.  We used this opportunity to better orient the main living spaces to the views and improve the access to the yards and the pool.

Extensive use of curved forms was employed in the design to tie the spaces together and create a flowing open plan.  One defined hallmark of the home is a drum shaped volume containing the kitchen, staircase and informal eating area; it becomes the “center of the universe”, and serves as the point of origin for the curved forms that are found throughout the home.
