Entry Photo: This compact and efficient home in Suncadia has been designed to meet Built-Green 4-star certification. It has been designed with energy efficient and environmentally friendly features such as structural insulated panels (SIPS) on the roof, a fully insulated heated concrete floor and engineered wood beams, headers and columns. The home has been oriented on the site and designed in such a way as to utilize passive solar heating and cooling while making the most of the surrounding views. You can see the effectiveness of this design in the sun/shade study renderings we have done for Summer and Winter. At the owners request the home is also designed to be fully accessible or convertible to ADA standards.

Summer Photo: This rendering shows the shadows cast on the home on a summer day, (simulated on June 21st at 2 pm). Notice how the roof form provides full shading for the main living space, deflecting the sun and heat from the interior, which together with high and low operable windows, will help keep the interior cool naturally.

Winter Photo: This rendering shows the sun exposure on a clear winter day (simulated on December 21st at 2:00pm), and demonstrates how the sunlight will be able to penetrate deep into the living areas, helping to heat the concrete slab floors and providing radiant heat beyond the daylight hours. It also maximizes the available natural lighting during the short winter days. The roof also allows for proper snow shedding so the home can be easily accessed in the winter. .
